Tobias Brixner studied physics at the University of Würzburg and the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque. He received his PhD in 2001 (“Adaptive Femtosecond Quantum Control”) in the group of Prof. Gustav Gerber. During his postdoctoral stay in 2003/2004 with Prof. Graham R. Fleming (UC Berkeley) he developed coherent 2D spectroscopy for the visible regime and then returned to Würzburg to establish an Emmy Noether Research Group. Since 2007 he is Full Professor for Physical Chemistry at Würzburg. Current interests include method development and applications in 2D spectroscopy, quantum control, and ultrafast nanooptics. He is the spokesperson of the DFG-funded Research Unit “Light-Induced Dynamics in Molecular Aggregates”.
